Quantum Entertainment Berlin

Quantum shouldn't be intimidating. It should be fun.

We build games, music and instruments that turn the next technology revolution into something you can touch, play and feel.

01 — Why now

The next technology revolution needs points of contact.

Quantum is the defining technology of the coming decades — the wave waiting at the door right behind AI. Yet there is almost no way for people to touch it. It feels like science fiction, and is widely misread as simply "more computing power." Understanding the fundamentally different quantum world is what unlocks its applications — and an entire generation is unprepared for it.

The defining
technology of the era

The revolution right behind AI — reshaping computing, sensing, materials and security.

A talent gap
opening now

Whole new professions are emerging that will be severely understaffed. Interest has to be built early.

Almost zero
public access

No imagination for real applications, little literacy, and barely any real points of contact. Open ground.

02 — Our thesis

Entertainment is the key to technology adoption.

Games and music strip away the intimidation. New technology stops feeling like science fiction and becomes tangible — something to engage with playfully and light-heartedly.

Games — the most important entertainment medium of our time — have always been technology's pioneers. Their impact reaches far beyond entertainment, paving the way for tech across industry and society.

03 — The platform

One place where quantum meets play.

Quantum Entertainment Berlin connects cutting-edge research with a thriving games industry and a vibrant music scene — in the one city where all three already live. Built on prior work across Oxford, Hamburg and Berlin, and the publicly funded research project EntangleVR: Quantum Architect at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

EntangleVR

See quantum in three dimensions.

A VR application that visualises quantum structures in 3D space — based on Bob Coecke's ZX-calculus — and makes them interactively malleable. The industry's notation standard leaps from static 2D into living, dynamic 3D. No higher mathematics required: intuitive, vivid, with feedback you can feel. Built around game design that makes people want quantum — never educational.

Quantum Arrangements

Play a quantum computer like an instrument.

Software that translates real quantum systems — controlled through MIDI — into sound, video and choreography. Sonification, audio, dance, generative visuals: a true multi-system interaction. A one-qubit prototype already lives inside the quantum guitar, and in the hands of many artists. The sheer novelty appeals to an enormously broad spectrum of creators.

Quantum Musical Instruments

Quantum you can hold.

Real instruments and components. A working quantum guitar prototype has already been played in high-profile venues. A line of quantum pedals is next — including many-user pedals that create entanglement to spark musical interaction between players. Guitarists and electronic musicians are eager experimenters and keen collectors of new toys.

Decades in quantum, games and music — in one team.

BC

Prof. Dr. Bob Coecke

Oxford

Father of categorical quantum computing and the ZX-calculus, and one of the most visible figures in quantum foundations. Connects quantum research with music and creativity — a field he pioneered.

MS

Manouchehr Shamsrizi

Hamburg / Berlin

Co-founder of gamelab.berlin and co-director of the leap innovation hub (Quantum Leap Berlin). Dual expertise in serious games and quantum technology, deeply rooted in both ecosystems, with a track record in community building.

CS

Dr. Christian Stein

Berlin

Co-founder of gamelab.berlin (HU Berlin), founder of the PLAY:AI Lab and managing director of Playersjourney GmbH. Game design, XR development, science communication and company building.

The vision

Turning quantum from a technical possibility into a societal reality.

A platform for the generation that will build, play and live in the quantum age. We're incorporating in Berlin in 2026 — and we'd love to build it with you.
